He was born in Italy. He lived in Portugal and France. Lived from 1451-1506. Patrons- King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella Christopher Columbus was the oldest of five children

Christopher Columbus was an explorer and Navigator He discovered the New World Even though he discovered the new world he died thinking that it was India. He used three ships on his exploration The Nina, The Pinta, The Santa Maria He used the book Ephemerides to help measure longitudes.

He didn’t go to school because of money He taught himself Latin during his travels Some people thought that he was trying to prove the earth was round, but this is not true. It took 8 years for King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to supply him with supplies and money He married a woman named Felipa Perestrello Moniz

On Christmas eve the Santa Maria wrecked near Haiti. The first island they spotted they named San Salvador. Columbus opened a shop that sold maps and books for sailors. His fathers name was Domenico Colombo and his mothers name was Susanna Fontanarossa. His son Diego was born in 1479

Christopher Columbus’ three ships carried 120 men. His exploration took ten weeks January 16, 1492 he starts his return journey to Spain Christopher Columbus established the first Spanish settlement in the new world. They left Spain on August 3,1492.

He had four voyages of exploration He was arrested while the governor of Hispaniola. On Christmas Eve, the Santa Maria was wrecked near Haiti. When they got to Cuba, he thought he was in China.

Vasco Da Gama opened the sea route to India by way of the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa. He was born about 1460 Four ships left Lisbon on July 8, 1497 The ships rounded the Cape on November 22. They crossed the Indian Ocean in 23 days

Vasco de Gama was an important explorer and made a very important trip around the tip of Africa Da Gama's success led to the dispatch of another Portuguese fleet Da Gama stopped in the Azores and finally reached Lisbon on Sept. 9, 1499. He had a hard voyage
