Analysis Paragraph Topic Sentence (TS): One sentence that states your point; it states what you’re trying to prove. Concrete Detail (CD #1): Your first piece of evidence; a quote from the source. Commentary (CM): Two to four sentences that explains the significance of the quote. How does it help prove your point? Conclusive Sentence (CS): One sentence that wraps up your paragraph.

Answering Questions While Reading Look over the questions before reading As you read: 1.Write down the page where you found the answer 2.Keep Reading – If Tired, Mark Where You Stopped and return to answer a few questions 3.Return to your reading and repeat steps 1 & 2

Exit You are halfway through the novel. Based on what you know at this point, what do you think will happen in the remainder of the story? Make a prediction for the story or one/two of the characters. Use at least 2 specific examples from the chapter to support your view.
