Being a Muslim country, Christmas is not recognized by most of the population. Instead they celebrate New Years a lot like we celebrate Christmas. They celebrate New Years eve on December 31st

In Turkey on New Years Eve, state TV channels announce the winning numbers of a New Years national lottery just before midnight. Lots of people buy tickets for the lottery hoping to win lots of money.
