Roosevelt the Peacemaker Russia and Japan were at war in the Russo-Japanese War because Japan wanted control over some of Russia’s assets Japan decided to meet with Teddy-he was able to get a control over the situation through smooth talking and progressive tactics. This earned him the Nobel Peace Prize United States and Japan pledged to respect each other's possessions and interests in East Asia and the Pacific

Columbia originally had territory, but USA supported a Panama rebellion so they could buy area cheaply- Columbia was not happy about this Connects Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean (51 miles) Cost: $380 Million Took 10 years to build as nearly 6,000 were killed in process due to yellow fever and malaria
