The Book of Proverbs Chapter 2:12-22 Warnings against False Teachers and False Doctrine, and the Third Reward for Pursuing God’s Wisdom.

Prov 2:12-15, False Teachers:

Prov 2:12-15, False Teachers: vs. 12, Twist the truth to overthrow your soul.

Mat 7:15-16, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.”

Prov 2:12-15, False Teachers: vs. 13, Had the truth at one time and now walk in obscurity.

Prov 2:12-15, False Teachers: vs. 14, Are corrupt inwardly and outwardly.

Prov 2:12-15, False Teachers: vs. 15, Are perverted and deceptive in their ways.

2 Cor 11:12-15, Disguise themselves as righteous individuals when in fact they are unrighteous in their ways. Cf. Rom 1:18-28

Rom 1:21-22, “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.”

Prov 2:16-19, False Doctrine: Vs. 16, Is strange and foreign to God and is designed to deceive you.

Vs. 17, Was once of the truth but has been changed. “Covenant” represents the gospel. So this includes a false gospel: (i.e., system of works, self sufficiency, etc.)

Mat 7:13-14, cf. 15-16, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Vs. 18, Leads the believer to the Sin Unto Death discipline from God.

Vs. 19: Is adultery against God, cf. Eze 23:17.

Typically, it is something they do not recover from. Yet, if they do God restores them to fellowship, 1 Kings 8:33, 48.

True Life is in following the Lord’s Path, His righteous character, Psa 25:4, 10; 27:11

The Third Reward and Conclusion, vs. 20-22. Vs. 20, is the Summary!

“Good” – TOB. Faithful believers walking in fellowship with God on a consistent basis, living in His righteousness, and maximizing their E.S.

You will be a pleasant aroma to God, useful as vessels of honor, 2 Tim 2:14-26.

“Keep” – SHAMAR, “to observe, guard, or keep.” Bible Doctrine guards your soul from corruption of sin and sin temptations.

Bible Doctrine guards your soul so that you remain in fellowship with God, walking in your E.S., living in the righteousness of God.

The standard for the society of God’s people is His holy character revealed in His righteous acts and instructions.

Grace Offering 2 Cor 9:6-7, “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
