Standards Distinguish between the intended benefits and the unintended consequences of a new technology. Differentiate between adaptive and assistive bioengineered products (e.g., food, biofuels, medicines, integrated pest management).
5
Essential Questions to ponder… What societal needs have led to the creation of certain technologies? What are the intended benefits and unintended consequences of new technologies? Are we able to describe, explain & develop adaptive & assistive bioengineered products?
6
Research statistics about areas with unsafe drinking water and information about solutions to clean water. www.portaportal.com/finleys Accountable Talk: Discuss your research with your group. Comment & add on to other team member’s research. Add to your own research.

Things to consider for PLAN… Do you have a control group and experimental groups? What are your control factors, independent variable, and dependent variable? How much will your product cost to build? Will it be affordable to the people that are in need of clean, safe drinking water? –As part of the PLAN section, you must include a cost benefit analysis. What does this mean?
8
Begin making sketches of your potential prototype. Remember, label your diagrams. Do you have a control group & experimental groups? What are your control factors or variables? Make a materials list & don’t forget to justify your materials. As you plan, make a list of steps you till take to build your prototype. Also include a cost benefit analysis.
