1 British Literature Entry Task: Reading journals/character charts on desk to be checked Next class you will be taking the novel test/essay for the novel Into Thin Air. Do you have any questions about the novel or the cause/effect essay? You will be allowed to use your graphic organizer, character chart and journals for the written assessment. You will be turning them in with the essay.

2 Learning Goals Students will be exposed to other cultures and time periods, quality literature and effective/varied writing styles Students will begin to understand key facts that influenced and developed literature Students will write effectively in expository mode to examine/analysis a complex idea

3 Learning Targets: Renaissance and Renaissance Theatre -Students will be able to identify and comprehend the themes of Love, Death, and Time -Students will recognize the renewed interest in the classics on Renaissance art and poetry -Students will recognize the impact of the monarchy on the arts -Students will understand the impact of the printing press on culture and literature -Students will be able to identify the format and components of Shakespearean sonnets: iambic pentameter -Students will understand the factors which influenced Shakespeare’s writing and the overall production of drama
