3 ICT Sector Standardization Standard: Specifications of network equipment, management, operation and maintenance, and end-user devices and security interactions Compliance and introduction of standard: increase efficiency of network equipments, create favorable conditions for fair competition, support new applications and services Private sector: new technology, service, usage Import: foreign manufacturer, equipments comply various foreign specifications, standard, market enforcement, conformity and interconnection, quality 3

5 Standard development Former Union of Industrial and Research Institute developed 50 standards were enforced in most of the old and updated. 1973- 1989 Development of national standards for the telecommunications industry until 1990-2001 deteriorated stagnated. By the Telecommunications Act 2001, CRC issued right to develop and monitor the implementation of sector standards Geneva, Switzerland, 2 June 2014 5 National standards development and approval process, time, research and organization of public administration, regulation, and the active participation of the public and private sectors, is a complex set of work.

7 As of 09 March 2013 in a total of 214 standards are formulated and investigated a valid approval of 194 standards and techniques and technology standards in relation to 20 has been canceled. 7 Statistic Information

11 Challenges According to Mongolian Law on “Standardization and Conformity Assessment” compliance standards must be in Mongolian languages Enforcement: users, dealers, sales people, black market Standard resources: Luck of national standard specially ICT products. Requirements to use equipments that comply standards and type approved. Standards development: luck of skilled standard developer, funding HR Location, small market 11
