Economic Inequities and Labor Servitude By: Jocelyn Leal

Poverty. The causes of poverty during this era were the uneven distribution of natural and all type of resources and money $$ The most poorest regions are in Africa. Extreme poverty, lack of needed resources for life, caused malnutrition on and rise in world hunger. This then lead to Labor servitude.

Labor Servitude. Labor servitude= legal slavery. Created by the United nations the International Labor Organization (ILO) dealt with labor issues world wide, head quartered in Geneva, Switzerland

Child labor. Child labor came hand-in-hand with labor servitude. Children from ages 5-14 around the world worked by force in extremely harsh conditions. The “owners” of these children sent them to work in; *agriculture *domestic service *family business *and sex trade. similar to the crossing to America form Europe, children were sometimes born into this slavery to pay the debt their parents didn’t finish, or to pay their own debt. like the industrialization era some children were sent to work by their parents so that they can have food in their tables and a roof over their heads. like “Toby” from Sweeney Todd

Trafficking. With modern slavery came buying and selling of human beings internationally. Traffickers had many different ways of gaining the attention of more and more people to want to join in: like promising well paying jobs, or tricking the women on secret dates after meeting them online. The victims are forced to work in bonded labor, domestic servitude and commercial sex industries were they were raped, tortured, starved, incarnated and often killed.
