4 PSAT Strategies: Critical Reading Sentence Completions: As you read the sentence, try to predict what word goes in the blank. Reading Comprehension: Skim each passage to know what its about. Then tackle the questions that direct you straight into the answer in a specific line.

5 PSAT Strategies Writing Multiple Choice: For all the question types of multiple choice, think about the clearest, simplest way to express and idea. If an answer sounds overly complicated or awkward, chances are that its wrong.

6 PSAT Strategies Math Multiple Choice: If you’re stuck, try substituting the numbers for variables. You can also try plugging in the numbers from the answer choices. Grid In: Unlike Multiple Choice, you will not be penalized for getting the wrong answer, so make your best guess even if you’re not sure.

7 PSAT Strategies General Process of elimination: By removing incorrect choices, you improve your chances of guessing correctly. Ballparking: On many math questions you can save time by estimating the answer before trying to solve the problem. This helps avoid careless mistakes. Taking bite sized pieces: Test makers always try to make the testing experience more trying. One method they apply is information overload. When this happens, stay calm and break the question down into bite sized pieces. Pacing: Do not rush through the test. Take your time and answer them correctly. Get a good night’s rest: Don’t cram, have a good night’s rest so you can be ready for the test.
