In your words… How is the Census used to determine the # of representatives per state?

In my words… Every 10 years the census is used to determine the total population of the US and each state. The total population is then divided by 435, the # of representatives in the House. This determines how many people should be represented in a state’s district. The states are divided into districts based on their populations and one representative is given to each district.
