Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists with a degree of independence from visual references in the world American Impressionism American Impressionism was a style of painting related to European Impressionism and practiced by American artists in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. American Impressionism is a style of painting characterized by loose brushwork and vivid colors. American Realism An early 20th century idea in art, music, and literature that reflected contemporary issues and events. Cubism An early-20th-century avant-garde art movement pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, where objects are analyzed, broken up and reassembled in an abstracted form.
