1. Lily’s story

2. My name is Lily. I was born in a city, Guangzhou, in china. I am married and have two children. I had arrived in Australia with my daughter to join my husband 12 years ago. I am a middle kid in my family. My father, mother brothers and sisters all live in China.

3. Two weeks later, I had a job in a fashion company as a dressmaker. It was very hard for me, because I never used the high quality’s sewing machine. I did that very slow. I didn’t enjoy the sewing. So I decided to find other job.

4. I felt that was very hard to find the job which is my profession. I was a technician. The duties included creation and preparation of new rubber formulas for manufacturing. I also tested dissected the composition of rubber and other material. I taught new students to learn how to do the work at the laboratory. I must get a licence in Australia when I work in a laboratory.

5. When the plane landed at Sydney Airport, I felt everything was new. It was different than my old country. I didn’t understand what people were saying, how I could let someone me, how I could find a job.

6. Although there were many problems, but I still liked to live here, because the weather was better than my old country. The people were friendlier. The shops, transport, the buildings and the government were better.

7. I was enrolled in an English class at AMES. After that I continued to learn English at Bankstown TAFE.I love Australia. I enjoy the student’s life very much, because I can make many friends who came from different countries and learn some different cultures. I would like to study a course at university in the future. So next year I want to enrol in TPC (Tertiary Preparation Certificate ). When I finish that I will go to university to study.
