Career of my choice: Journalism Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Certificate in Journalism Required courses: 1.Foundation of Journalism & mass communication 2.Research techniques for journalists 3.Reporting writing & Editing I 4.Visual communication 5.Communication Laws 6.The media and social institutions etc…

Estimated Salary/Employment Outlook The annual salary ranges to $62,320 - $75,720 This career will be relevant ten years from now because people depend on the news and without it people wouldn’t know what’s going on around their community, county, city, state, country or around the world Competition will continue to be keen for jobs in large metropolitan areas and for national newspapers, broadcast stations networks, and magazines

How long & where to go? I’m looking to pursue my Bachelors degree (4 years) Places to pursue this career: 1.New York Times, New York City, New York 2.Wall Street Journal, New York City, New York 3.Washington Post, Washington D.C, Virginia

You ask why? (Appeal) I want to pursue this career because I love to write, (sounds nerdy) but I’m serious. I enjoy getting out there and researching what’s new and important. Journalism makes me feel alive and keeps me content. It’s a great way to interact with strangers and actually get to know them. Interviewing complete strangers may seem nerve racking but it’s a simple fear to overcome.

Personality Strengths that match this career!! I’m a very outgoing person I enjoy talking to people, even random people (good for interviewing) I’m a great listener and a very understanding person Responsibility is my middle name (not literally)

One interesting fact about the career/ Advantages and Disadvantages That more women pursue this career than men. Advantages: I’m currently taking Journalism now here at Landstown and I’m currently holding the position as News Editor for the schools’ newspaper. Disadvantages: Competition is fierce between young journalists, especially in heavy populated metropolitan areas.
