INTRODUCTION Hydro is Greek for water.Hydropower is water we use to make energy.

Renewable or Not? It is renewable because it goes through the water cycle replenishing our supply of water.

LOCATION  Our resource is located in many states that have a big water supply or a plentiful supply.  States like Alabama, new York, California,Washington and Oregon.  Our resource is located in many states that have a big water supply or a plentiful supply.  States like Alabama, new York, California,Washington and Oregon.

Recovery  We capture it in a dam and let it out at a controlled pace  Spinning turbines are placed in certain places where water can flow through them spinning them making electricity.  We capture it in a dam and let it out at a controlled pace  Spinning turbines are placed in certain places where water can flow through them spinning them making electricity.

Uses  We use this type of energy to create electricity that we use in normal everyday situations.

Environmental impact  When we build dams not aware of the fact that we destroy the back half of which the dams are built, destroying the environment behind it.  It also stops the natural pace at which fish swim upstream.  When we build dams not aware of the fact that we destroy the back half of which the dams are built, destroying the environment behind it.  It also stops the natural pace at which fish swim upstream.

Advantages and Disadvantages  When the dm is built, the energy is virtually free.  No waist or produced we generate it constantly.  It floods the back half of the dam and stop fish from flowing upstream.  When the dm is built, the energy is virtually free.  No waist or produced we generate it constantly.  It floods the back half of the dam and stop fish from flowing upstream.

Other important facts  Energy from the sun evaporates water sending it back into the clouds.  This is called the water cycle making hydropower renewable.  Energy from the sun evaporates water sending it back into the clouds.  This is called the water cycle making hydropower renewable.

Other  Only a small percent of all dams in the united states actually were built for producing electricity.  Most were built for irrigation and flood control.  Only a small percent of all dams in the united states actually were built for producing electricity.  Most were built for irrigation and flood control.
