Sojourner’s brothers and sisters were sold except one prior to her birth In 1797. Sojourner was a slave in the Civil War time period.

Sojourner sold her son in 1827, when he was five. She did this in half of guilt.

Truth set foot as a preacher, speaking and singing to the audiences in New England, middle Atlantic states, and the mid-west in 1843.

1846, She began speaking against slavery on a tour in New England.
