DIRECTIONS For each set of words, write the definition word-for-word under “Word and definition.” You are welcome to add notes as you need Then follow the directions for the “Examples” side.

THERE, THEIR, THEY’RE Word and Definition There : in, at, or to that place or position Their : belonging to or associated with the people or things previously mentioned or easily identified They’re : a contraction of “they are” Examples Come up with three examples (one for each word) about a dog Underline each time you use the word.

ITS, IT’S Word and Definition Its : belonging to or associated with a thing previously mentioned or easily identified It’s : a contraction of “it is” Examples Come up with two examples (one for each word) about food Underline each time you use the word

EFFECT, AFFECT Word and definition Effect : usually a noun, meaning a change. BUT sometimes a verb, meaning to bring about a final change (if you effect something, you cause it to be) Affect : a verb, to act upon or have an influence on (if you affect something, you do to it) Examples Write THREE examples: One that uses “effect” as a noun One that uses “effect” as a verb One that uses “affect”
