3 Melodrama as an Exaggerated Drama Style Melodrama is derived from the Greek word for ‘music-drama’ Key aspects include; exagerated emotions and language, stereotyped characters, contrast of events and conflict. Categorised into five different groups Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

4 Exaggerated Acting Asides Actions such as movement, body and facial expressions are over the top and easily interpreted Projection of voice Nothing naturalistic Acting towards the audience

5 Inclusion in the Plot Music is used to increase and exaggerate the emotional response. The plot is exaggerated by the sudden contrast of events and conflict. By having black and white characters eg- good and evil The use of drama devises Special effects
