5. First you must learn the following… You must learn the term co-efficient. That’s when you have a letter without a number, beside it. Ex: 3a or just b. When a letter has no number beside it we automatically give it the value of 1.

6. Now we’ll figure out how to solve some problems………

7. Sample Problem #1. 2 ( 3a + b) Multiply 2 x 3a = 6a Multiply 2 x 1b = 2b Answer: ( 6a + 2b )

9. Sample Problem #2 6 ( 3a + 5b) Multiply 6 x 3a = 18a Multiply 6 x 5b = 30b Answer: ( 18a + 30b )
