Today we will… Identify the vertices and edges on a given shape.

Essential Questions What is an Euler path? How do you know a picture has an Euler Path? What is an Euler circuit? How do you know a picture has an Euler circuit? What is an Euler path? Why do we need to determine the shortest distance between the points? What is an Euler circuit? Why do we need to start and end in the same place? What are Euler paths and circuits? Why is it not efficient to retrace your path more than once?
3
Vocabulary A vertex is the point where at least two line segments meet. The plural of a vertex is vertices. An edge is a line segment. At least two edges come together at a vertex. Vertex Edge
4
How many edges and vertices? 3 edges 3 vertices
5
How many edges and vertices? 8 edges 5 vertices
6
How many edges and vertices? 8 edges 8 vertices
7
How many edges and vertices? 6 edges 5 vertices
8
How many edges and vertices? 16 edges 13 vertices
9
Closure What is an edge? What is a vertex? Draw a square and label the edges and the vertices. Think about our objective today. Turn to your neighbor and tell the what we did today.
