Europe’s Geography Europe stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Ural Mountains (West/East) Arctic Ocean to Mediterranean Sea (North/South) Western most of two continents on the land mass called Eurasia Europe has the 3 rd highest population Europe is one of the most dense (crowded) places on the planet Europe is divided into three subregions: Western, Southern, and Eastern Europe Western Europe Southern Europe Eastern Europe

Europe has seven different language families: Germanic, Romance, Celtic, Slavic, Baltic, Greek, and Albanian Each of these families have several languages Germanic languages include English & German Romance Languages include Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese As Europeans colonized other parts of the world the languages spread

Europe: Unity & Division Today, Europe is more united than at anytime in its history 27 Nations are part of the European Union The EU allows for free trade, travel, and a unified currency (the Euro) Immigration is also very relaxed in most European countries However, Europe has had a history of division & war Two major wars were fought in Europe in the 20 th Century: WWI & WW II Europe would also be politically divided during the Cold War
