doc.: IEEE 802.19-10/0062r1 Submission May 2010 Overview At the last Orlando meeting we agreed to host a TVWS Workshop whose purpose is to increase industry participation in this 802.19.1 standards work. Workshop is to be prior to or after the July 802 meeting in San Diego. Joe Kwak is leading the ad hoc for planning this workshop. Costs for various possible workshop timeslots is now available and are presented here. The TG must make a decision to select the workshop time ASAP. Slide 2Joe Kwak (InterDigital)

doc.: IEEE 802.19-10/0062r1 Submission May 2010 Proposed Workshop Facility Requirements Slide 3Joe Kwak (InterDigital) 4-5 hour workshop duration, including one break. 80-100 attendees anticipated. Classroom seating with power strips(like 802 meetings). Head table for 4-6 people. Screen & LCD projector with cable to head table. Microphones (3) for head table and one (1) for audience. Water at head table and at rear of room. WiFi coverage in the room desired, but not required.

Target attendees are other 802 WGs:.11,.15,.16, &.22 Also targeting TVWS industry participants who do not attend 802, e.g. TVWS Database Group, FCC WS Service Provider bidders, and others. Workshop is NOT PART of the 802 meeting, i.e. no 802 registration/fees needed for attendees. May need corporate sponsor if there are costs. 802.19 WG has no experience with web registration & payment tools.

doc.: IEEE 802.19-10/0062r1 Submission May 2010 Cost Breakdown Slide 7Joe Kwak (InterDigital) Workshop time on Sunday will use one of the 802 meeting rooms set up early for us. No cost. Workshop time on Friday afternoon will use the 802.11 closing plenary room. No cost. Hotel will charge for other workshop times as follows: –$1500 Room rental, tables/chairs, water & service –$750 Screen and LCD projector rental & service –$350 Microphones/mixer rental & service –$600 Power strips (20) rental & service $3200 Total cost for facilities on Saturday or Friday evening.

doc.: IEEE 802.19-10/0062r1 Submission May 2010 Sunday vs Friday Trade Off Slide 8Joe Kwak (InterDigital) Sunday –NEG: most WGs and 802 leadership already have working sessions planned on Sunday prior to 802 meeting. –NEG: non-802 attendees would lose weekend for travel and workshop attendance –Others? Friday –POS: non-802 attendees would travel on workday and get weekend in San Diego for recreation. –NEG: 802 chairs cannot attend due to conflict with EC meeting. –Others?

doc.: IEEE 802.19-10/0062r1 Submission May 2010 Working Group Decision Slide 9Joe Kwak (InterDigital) Joe Kwak recommends Friday 16JUL 1-5PM as best time for meeting. We need 802.19 to finalize workshop time decision ASAP and advertise ASAP in order to provide adequate time for travel planning. Workshop agenda details are in process (TBD) and will be discussed at Beijing meeting. Short email strawpoll will decide on best time, 2 day poll: 6-7MAY. Results to be emailed to all on Saturday 8MAY.
