2 The Hyksos reigned in the Delta region while a rival dynasty controlled Thebes.

3 A Theban ruler named Kamose drove the Hyksos out in 1567 BC.

4 His brother Ahmose reunified the country and established the Eighteenth Dynasty beginning the New Kingdom in 1552.

5 Amen-Re is established as the national god.

6 Pharaohs of both the Middle and New Kingdom build cliff tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
