1. BUILDING A GO KART Tanner Price

2. September In the first month of the project I researched and found blueprints to build a couple of different go karts. The many choices were: racing, crazy looking, safe, street, and off-road.

4. October This month I really worked on my welding skills, by gaining knowledge from watching YouTube videos and from practicing. I learned that without a good weld my go kart frame would be unstable, not safe, and could break at any time.

6. November In November I decided on which type of go kart I was going to build, I went with the racing go kart. It was the most balanced from speed to safety, out of all the options.

8. December In December I went out in to the community talking to small businesses about my project and received an engine; however, in the end I went out and bought an engine. This month I learned so much about engines and how to take them apart to bore (restore) them out.

10. January In January I went out into the community again, but this time I received metal for my frame from a company called Majestic Metals. Not only was the tubing donated it was all cut to the right lengths, the right angles, and I was able to help cut all of the tubing with many different cutters.

12. February In February I welded the entire frame together, which was a big step forward for the project. I also ordered all of my non-welding parts.

14. March In March I put the whole go kart together and it looked amazing. This month I learned what spindles do for the steering and how a disc brake works with a hydraulic brake system.

16. April In April the whole go kart was completed it was all put together and it was given a great paint job. The paint job made the go kart look very professional.
