Eurostat/OECD PPP program Introduction/reminder Eurostat calculates PPPs on an annual basis, covered since 2007 by an EU Regulation These are combined with the OECD data to establish a three-yearly benchmark Methodologies are very similar between Eurostat and OECD, laid down in OECD/Eurostat PPP Manual Timetable and organisation are different

Eurostat/OECD PPP program 2005 round Combined Eurostat/OECD results were published in 2008 Eurostat covered 37 countries (27 EU Member States, 3 Candidate Countries, 3 EFTA countries, 4 Western- Balkan countries) OECD covered 9 countries (7 OECD Member States, plus Russia and Israel)

Eurostat/OECD PPP program 2008 round Preliminary results calculated end 2009 Publication foreseen end of 2010 Same countries included Changes between 2005 and 2008: –Education –New questionnaire on compensation of employees –Introduction of SPDs –For Eurostat countries: new on-line tools for list creation and validation –Speed up validation of consumer price surveys (now ready within 4 months)

Eurostat/OECD PPP program 2011 round Country coverage: same plus Chile in OECD Kosovo? Changes between 2008 and 2011: –For Eurostat countries: construction two-year rolling survey (as of 2011) plus key items for interpolation –Health? –BH classification?

Eurostat/OECD PPP program Surveys included in 2011 round - Eurostat Consumer surveys 2010, 2011 and 2012 (2 surveys per year). Last 2012 data finalised June 2013. –Note: core list needs to be available in Feb/March 2010 (at least for the BHs covered in first 2010 survey) Equipment goods: 2011 survey – finalised mid 2012 Construction: best would be 2011 and 2012 surveys – finalised mid 2013 Rents, salaries, weights: first collection 2012, second collection in 2013, third collection 2014
