Prehistoric is time before humans kept written records (usually anything before 3300 BCE/BC) Peleolithic and Neolithic Era ◦ Peleolithic Era – 2,000,000 to 10,000 BCE/BC (cave man stuff). Man hunts for food and gathers plant edibles. ◦ Neolithic Era – 10,000 BCE/BC to 3300 BCE/BC (down on the farm). Civilization begins here! ◦ Ancient Era civilizations - 4000 BCE/BC to 1000 BCE/BC (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Hebrews, Persians and Phoenicians) The “start” of civilization ◦ Classical Era civilization – 1200 BCE/BC to 500 CE/AD (Greece, Rome, India and China).
