“Now is not the time to gut these job-creating investments in science and innovation. Now is the time to reach a level of research and development not seen since the height of the Space Race. And today, no area holds more promise than our investments in American energy.” Obama’s 2013 State of the Union February 12

LUQ Information Management (LUQ IM) vision of the world is a complex web of information (data and metadata). Each set of information describes one or many components of our planet. As each piece is described independently, other pieces are interlaced into the view of many others. VISION Our mission is to share that information as is generated by the Research of the Luquillo LTER in a timely manner thus helping in the discovery of the relationships among these components. Science Component of LTER: Studies Monitors Experiments Discovers (Analysis) Relates Knowledge (Synthesis) Educates IM Component of LTER: Facilitates analysis (Data Management) Shares information (Data and Metadata) Educates (Schoolyard and GS) Foster synthesis LTER SITES’ COMPONENTS: SCIENCE & IM

DATA USE All data is readily downloadable LUQ User's Licence, Agreement, and Disclaimer : http://luq.lternet.edu/IM/UsersAgreement http://luq.lternet.edu/IM/UsersAgreement User may want to contact investigator (Contact information in metadata)

DATA DESIGN Think long-term use for you data and that you will not be present when data will be downloaded and used!!! Consult with and LTER Information Manager at the beginning of your Project data design Start preparing metadata at this stage Follow your site’s metadata standards for documentation: http://luq.lternet.edu/IM/rulesProtocolsandTemplatesforDataFiling Design your data in a Table-like manner (RDBMS)
