3 Central European Monarchs Clash Strong states formed more slowly in central Europe than in Western Europe. The major powers of this region were the kingdom of Poland, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Ottoman Empire. None of them became strong until the mid-1600s. Once these states became strong, their ambitious rulers fought each other for power. What potential problems do you see happening in Europe?
