TAG Soil: Mixture of limestone, shale & sandstone: rocky soil Major features: Limestone caves, deep canyons, and interesting rock formations. 3 Ridge and Valley Climate: Mild, warmer than the mountains Economy: Farming (apples & cattle), forestry, textiles Location: Between AP & BR Soil: Shale & limestone on ridges, Limestone & clay in valleys Major features: Know for Dalton: “The Carpet Capital of the World.”

4 Blue Ridge Climate: Mild, mountains collect precipitation for the state. Has the most rainfall in Georgia. Economy: Tourism, forestry, farming (vegetables and apples) Location: NE corner of the state Major Features: Highest & largest group of mountains, beginning of Appalachian Trail, Brasstown Bald (highest point in Georgia) Amicalola Falls, Tallulah Gorge, Helen, many recreational opportunities

5 Piedmont Climate: Mild winters; humid summers Economy: Business/Industry, tourism, some farming, timber Location: From the foothills to Coastal Plains Soil: Well drained, granite based, red clay Major Features: Name means “foot of the mountain”, ½ of states population lives here, criss-crossed by many rivers: Chattahoochee Atlanta located here

6 Coastal Plain Climate: Mild- inner, Subtropical – outer; mild winters and hot, humid summers Economy: Farming, Shipping/trade, tourism, fishing, Naval stores Location: From Piedmont to coast, largest region Soil type: Varies from limestone to clay to sand Major features: Barrier Islands, wetlands, Okefenokee Swamp, Svannah

7 Alaska: Remote, cold, isolated, mountainous Elsa from Frozen Elsa separates herself from her family and becomes isolated because of her magical condition that freezes everything she touches. Afraid of hurting Anna, she runs off to the mountains in a remote locations to hide. Alaska is a lot like Elsa because it is separated from the continental US which makes it isolated. Many parts of Alaska are difficult to reach because of the terrain, which makes most of Alaska remote territory. Also Alaska’s climate is Arctic cold with heavy amounts of snow. Arizona: Hot, Rugged, desert, little vegetation The Rock; Dwayne Johnson The rock is a popular star, that many think is very good looking. He is very buff and he has no hair on his head. Arizona also has a lot of land that is not covered with vegetation. The climate is hot and dry and the topography is mountainous and rugged. Florida: Humid, subtropical, surrounded by water on 3 sides, flat terrain, fishing and shipping Michael Phelps Phelps is an Olympic swimmer that has a lot of flat medals and he swims like a fish! He is also fit and trim from his exercise as he burns up the lanes in the pool. Florida is like Phelps because its climate is hot. It is surrounded by water and its terrain is flat, like Phelps abs!
