1 DO-NOW: If a child is crying, do you give them a cookie, or try to stop the crying?

2 1. appeasement : The policy of pacifying (satisfy) an aggressive nation in the hopes of avoiding further conflict. 2. Munich Conference: an agreement regarding the Munich Crisis between the major powers of Europe. The purpose of the conference was to discuss the future of Czechoslovakia and it ended up surrendering much of that state to Nazi Germany 3. Winston Churchill: regarded as the finest British leader of the 20th century and was instrumental in leading Britain to victory during World War II.

3 1. Hitler was able to take over the Rhineland, Austria and Czechoslovakia without the Allies declaring war on Germany 2. England and France were trying to avoid more death and destruction (WWI) and gave into Hitler’s demands and the Munich Conference. 3.The U.S. was staying out of European affairs. Without the help of the U.S., Hitler was able to build up his military forces and conquer most of Europe.
