Graphing Pictures on the Coordinate Plane (Using a Spreadsheet)

Go to Microsoft Paint

From the Edit menu select Paste From...

Select the picture you want to draw and click on Open.

Click on Start and bring up MS Word.

From the Table menu select Insert.

Try 35 columns and 30 rows.

From the View menu select Zoom.

Try 170%.

The idea is to fill your screen with the grid... before you type Print Screen on the keyboard... which places your grid on the clipboard.

Deselect Draw Opaque from the Image menu.

Select Paste from the Edit menu.

Highlight points with integral coordinates, i.e., are at gridline intersections.

Enter the coordinates of the gridded picture. Remember you must have at least 50 -5-9 -5 -4-2 -40 -52 -63 -7 3

From the Insert Menu... Select Chart

Select X-Y Scatter Chart Type With curved Lines

Make sure your data is highlighted and that the Series in COLUMNS.

Select the GRIDLINES tab and then check MAJOR GRIDLINES for the X axis. Click NEXT.

Click the bubble next to AS NEW SHEET and click FINISH.

Double click on the x-axis and change the Minimum and Maximum values to hold your entire graph.

Do the same on the y-axis. Only changing the Minimum and Maximum.

Double click anywhere on the graph and select the COLOR to WHITE.

Adjusting coordinates... will yield better results.

Remember to upload the original picture file and the Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.
