Today you will need: A pencil 1 die Your math journal A partner

Directions 1.Roll the die. 2.Write down the number you rolled. 3.Double that number. 4.Keep going until you roll each number and double it. 5.Think of other numbers you can double. 6.Write those numbers down and double them.

Here’s another way to think about those facts and facts that are like them. When I think about 5 + 4 1 + 4 Double 4is 8 And 1 more is 9 So….. 5 + 4 = 9

Without calling out….. Think about the last fact 5 + 4 = 9 We doubled the 4. Could we double the 5 instead?

For practice…… Use a die to roll a number Double that number. Add 1 more or take 1 less. Record your work in your journal. Try to find as many NEAR DOUBLES as you can.
