2. What is a drama? A drama is a story acted out in front of an audience.
A drama can be serious or funny
A drama can use actors, puppets, dance, or music.

Plot: a series of events that make up the story.
Setting: the time and place of the story.

Characters can be people who actually lived, animals, or fictional people.
Characters speak through lines called dialogue.

The script includes:
Stage directions
Describes the scene or setting.
Explains what the characters are doing or how they are feeling.
These are not read aloud and usually written in brackets or italics.

A play can have one act or several.
Each act tells a different part of the story. Acts may be divided into smaller parts called scenes.

8. Tools of Drama To bring the play to life on stage, actors use:
Props: objects such as a broom or a book.
Costumes: clothing that help the actors look like their characters.
Sets: stage decoration that shows where the action is taking place.
