6 2004 Co–Chairs Meeting Region 9 Activities In Progress Developing final Sister City Plan: Imperial Valley/Mexicali Implementing Border 2012 Goals and Objectives via 2 Regional Workgroups and the Borderwide Workgroup (JRT) Coordinating efforts of 3 Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Response Task Forces San Diego County/Tijuana Imperial County/Mexicali Arizona/Sonora Waste Tire Pile Fire Prevention / ER Planning Project Emergency Response Equipment and Assistance Project (E-REAP.ORG) Chemical Inventory and Risk Assessment Project Variety of Training and Exercises In Progress Seeking to establish a HazMat ER Institute in Mexico

7 2004 Co–Chairs Meeting Borderwide Challenges Maintaining and updating the Sister City Plans – keeping them viable. Partnering with other other federal agencies on Border 2012 – at the Task Force and Regional Workgroup levels. Indemnification of local and state emergency responders when conducting cross border responses/funding cross border responses. Standardization of training and ER protocol with our Mexican counterparts Cross border communication – dedicated frequencies and radio equipment
