Survival Kit
2
The hatchet is the most important thing in the survival kit, because in the book, Hatchet, a boy named Brian only had a hatchet to protect himself. I would put the hatchet in the survival kit, because you can make bows, arrows, and fish spears to kill animals like fool hens (fool birds) and rabbits. You can make a raft, and you can peel bark with the edge of the hatchet to use for fires.
3
I chose match sticks as the second most important thing in the survival kit, because if you have matches, it is very easy to make fire, which keeps you warm. The other reason why I chose the matches as the second most important thing in the survival kit was because, when you really need fire in seasons like Winter and Autumn, you just take a match stick and make fire.
4
The third most important thing in the survival kit is the First Aid Kit. I chose the First Aid Kit as the third most important thing in the survival kit, because if you are in a plane crash and you are hurt, you can use ointment from your survival kit and put it on your wounds. There would also be Band-Aids, bandages, and splints to use for broken bones or to use to make weapons.
5
I chose the Emergency Transmitter as the fourth item, because, if you get lost, you can take the Emergency Transmitter and get back to your mom and dad. You must be wondering why I didn’t rank the Emergency Transmitter as the second or third choice. I didn’t put the Emergency Transmitter in the second or third place, because I have never ever been in a forest. I have seen forests in books, on TV, in magazines, and on the internet. I would want to stay in a forest, but having an Emergency Transmitter would make me feel safer. I want to see nature and the life, but when I am fed up and want I want to go home, I will just use the Emergency Transmitter to help me be rescued.
6
I think cookware is the fifth most important thing in the survival kit, because if the lake is cold and you want warm or hot water, you just take a pan from the cookware, get water from the lake and boil it. If I didn’t have a pan from the cookware, how would I boil the water ? That’s why I chose cookware as the fifth important thing. Boiling the water will make it cleaner, so I don’t get sick.
7
I chose water as the sixth most important thing in the survival kit. I chose water, because your body needs water. I didn’t rank water higher, because you can get water anywhere like from a lake, river, or pond. I could boil it then and drink it safely by using my cookware.
8
I chose food as my seventh choice, because if you don’t eat food, you can’t survive. I am living in a forest, and with a hatchet, I can make bows and arrows to hunt for food. When I make bows and arrows, I can kill rabbits, catch fish, and fool hens. The freeze-dried food I would put in my kit would help me when I was sick or hurt and unable to hunt for food.
9
I chose a tent as my eighth choice in the survival kit, because I need something to cover me or protect me from the rain. The other reason why I chose the tent to be included in my survival kit is, if I am exhausted, I will just go to my tent and lie down on the floor. I can also protect myself from the wild animals.
