Popular Meals The most popular known food in Mexico is the tortilla which is served instead of bread at most meals. Here is an example of a popular meal: Quesadillas for appetizer served with guacamole (sauce made with crushed avocado, green chili, tomato, etc. Carnitas (fried pork) for main entre Tamales (fruit or nuts stuffed in a corn dough shell) for dessert

Other Popular Dishes Enchiladas Tostados (Tacos) Tortas-sandwich with meat, lettuce, mayonnaise, tomatoes, onions, jalapeno Sopes-corn patty with chicken, cheese, and hot sauce as toppings Mole-peanut sauce that is spicy and poured over meat Ceviche-mexican version of sushi served on top of a salad Pozole- broth from chicken or pork with corn, lettuce, oregano, onions, dried ground chili, lemon juice, and radish
