The Question then, is….  WHY? Why did that happen, and what does it mean? What went wrong? What went right? What does this mean about human behavior? Could something have been done differently?

Perhaps a little visual aid would help… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmw SC5fS40w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmw SC5fS40w

Overview of the Independent variables of this experiment…

 Method - Randomly assigned positions, “real experiment”  Subjects - 22/75 males, $15 bucks, healthy psycho  Method - Randomly assigned positions, “real experiment”  Subjects - 22/75 males, $15 bucks, healthy psycho

Discussion Guides ***There’s a lot to talk about, but lets try to maintain one focus at a time***

Hints  Based on the videos an pictures above as well as your own thoughts, do you believe that this particular theory was potentially too harmful to its subjects to be conducted? Why or why not?  2. How do you think you would have handled this particular situation if you were either a prisoner or guard? Would you have kept to your morals or would you have fallen victim to power?  3. How far will people go to obtain power? Examples?  4. If this experiment was repeated with new subjects who knew the complete outcome of the experiment the first time, would the same result occur?  5. Institution versus the individual. In this situation, which one caused the problems?  Based on the videos an pictures above as well as your own thoughts, do you believe that this particular theory was potentially too harmful to its subjects to be conducted?
