1940s (Ron Moore) World War II “Born of the Night” Trailways buses for Armed Forces Minimum wage 43 cent hour Only 55 % homes had indoor plumbing… The movie It’s A Wonderful Life …and in 1946, Trailways marks 10 years in business with a network of 48 bus companies

The 1950 (Tim Hancock) “Baby Boom” Dwight Eisenhower The National Highways System Elvis Presley on The Ed Sullivan Show… Bryl Creem is invented… The Trailways National Office relocates from Chicago, Illinois to Washington, D.C. …and in 1956, Trailways marked its 20 th Anniversary featuring Five-Star Service as well as coast to coast “thru-service”! Trailways is also the very first bus system that offers Air Conditioned Buses!

The company unveils its crimson and cream logo and brand standards….

1980s (Marcia Milton) Ronald Regan is President… “CNN NEWS”, MTVCNN The Statue of Liberty 100 Iran hostage crisis “Challenger” tragedy “Challenger …and in 1986, Trailways marks its 50 th Anniversary... But deregulation has drastic and negative effects on intercity ridership… Trailways Inc. is sold to Greyhound Lines…and the National Trailways Bus System is fractured

1990s (Brian Crow) The Gulf WarGulf War Bill Clinton is President… New Millennium / “Y-2K” …and in 1996, Trailways marks 60 years in business… Only 14 bus companies but rebuilds Charter & Tour Bus Companies invited Expands into Canada and Europe… “Affiliated Partner” program launched… First female President & CEO, Gale Ellsworth (1997) Reorganized as for profit corporation: Trailways Transportation System, Inc (1999) The Trailways Chairman at the time is Gene Berardi

2000s (Jonathan Berzas) “9-11” The First African-American US President Major Natural Disasters Katrina, Thailand “tidal wave”, Haiti Earthquake The Sony PlayStation and Nintendo WII 2006- 70th year in business Team Trailways has 90 Bus Companies 100 industry-related Affiliated “Partners”… Bill Steele is the Chairman Vernon & Maz is the first Trailways Affiliated Partner
