Schedule O Tuesday, January 18 O Period 4 Final 8:00-9:30 O Period 5 Final 9:50-11:25 O Wednesday, January 19 O Period 6 Final 8:00-9:30 O Period 7 Final 9:50-11:25 O Thursday, January 20 O Period 1 Final 8:00-9:30 O Period 2 Final 9:50-11:25 O Friday, January 21 O Period 3 Final 8:00-9:30

Reminders O You must be in uniform/dress code O Don’t be late O Use the restroom before and after the exam times O You will NOT be allowed to use the restroom DURING the testing times – even if you are done O If you do not have a final exam, you do not have to be at school O Do not linger in any of the buildings- it is a distraction to test takers

The Day of the Exam O Bring to class: O TWO (2) #2 Pencils with NEW erasers O Not allowed at your DESK: O Cell phones O iPods, PSPs, MP3 players, etc. O If I see earbuds, I will take them O Backpacks, purses, etc. O Paper, note cards, books, etc. O Food, water bottles, drinks of any kind

Before the Bell O When you enter the room, place any materials at the front of the room. O Cell phones must be turned OFF upon entering the room and placed in the white board marker tray. O Get your pencils and erasers and sit at your desk. O Sharpen your pencils if needed.

When You Finish O Sit QUIETLY until the entire class is finished. O Talking WILL result in a referral for Academic Dishonesty O If you have study materials for another class you may retrieve them QUIETLY from your backpack, but leave your bag up front. O If you have nothing to work on, put your head down on your desk- do not look at other test takers.

The Test O Sections: O Literature– 20 Questions O Grammar – 11 Questions O Literary Terms – 21 Questions O Quotes – 10 Questions O Writing – 22 Questions O Reading Comprehension – 6 Questions O Vocabulary in Context – 6 Questions O Ring of McAllister Vocabulary – 21 Questions O Reading/Analyzing Poetry– 8 Questions

Question Types O Mostly multiple choice O True / False (a- true, b-false) O Matching

Study Tips - Vocab O Create flash cards with just the word and definition O Try to use mnemonic devices to help you remember O Timorous = shy O “Timorous” sounds similar to “tremor”… and you shake when you’re nervous! O Study with others! Quiz each other! O Be sure to shuffle your flash cards from time to time, so you don’t get used to them in a particular order

Study Tips – Lit Terms O Create flash cards for the terms and their definitions O Study with others! Quiz each other! O Associate the term to something we have read to help you remember O Be sure to shuffle your flash cards from time to time, so you don’t get used to them in a particular order

Study Tips - Literature O Write detailed summaries of the works O Fact Challenge: O Get into pairs or groups O Set a time limit (1 minute, 2 minutes) O Select one of the works and write as many facts, details, etc. as you can in the allotted time O When time is up, compare facts

Study Tips – Reading Comp O Read the questions before you read the passage O This will help you focus in on what you should be looking for O Remember to use contextual clues to infer meaning

Final Reminders O Finals week can be very stressful O Budget your studying time so that you don’t get overwhelmed O Stay well-rested and well-fed all week O Discipline yourself to work hard and put in your maximum effort – the results will pay off! O Keep a positive attitude – remember, it’s just ONE week out of your life… not the end of the world!
