1. Science 4 th grade

2. Students will be introduced to the subject of weather and weather tracking by a professional meteorologist from Channel 8 news Weatherminds team. The meteorologist will explain weather conditions and tracking to the students. A question and answer period will follow. Introductory Activity

3. Following the presentation, students will be escorted to the computer lab where each student will use an individual computer.

4. Students will be given verbal directions on how to do an internet search for weather information.

5. Students will locate local weather information on the internet when given access to computers and internet services, following verbal direction.

7. Students will be given a journal and pencil with which to record specific weather information regarding current weather conditions.

8. Students will separate into previously determined groups to discuss the information discovered in the internet search.

9. Students will organize data, preparing for insertion of information into a prepared format.

10. Groups will prepare a weather report including projected highs and lows.

11. Students will include whether conditions will be sunny, rainy, hot or cold.

12. Students will include sky conditions (sunny, cloudy, etc.), dew point, and humidity.

13. Students will include dew point, visibility, wind speed, and allergen levels.

14. Students will prepare a 12 hour forecast for the day, broken down into morning, noon, and afternoon time spans.

15. Students will prepare a seven day forecast.

16. Students will formalize their information. They will prepare for a verbal presentation of their report.

18. After preparing their weather reports, groups alternately will present their reports to the rest of the class on subsequent days.
