Insert the CDROM Open the Novice 1 folder by using Windows Explorer Run the Setup.exe Specify the destination directory ◦ (e.g: c:/ or d:/) Select: Full – Install all files. Installing Novice 1

1. Run the NOV1-Ls.exe or Nov1-Rd.exe. 2. Type your name and press ENTER. 3. See the report book (if any) and click the “Continue” button. 4. Select one level from the pull-down menu. 5. Answer the qestions. Using NOVICE 1:

1. Run the ATM.EXE 2. Type your name and press ENTER 3. Click the “Continue” button 4. Select one/more topic(s), e.g.: 1 -10 (demo files) 5. Press ENTER to continue 6. Modify the available options or just press ENTER to continue 7. Answer the qestions. 8. To create CBT: Press Ctrl+1 9. To edit CBT: Press Ctrl+2 Using ATM

Two Approaches: Vertical and Horizontal Guidelines: ◦ 1 question = 11 lines/columns ◦ Follow the correct sequence ◦ Save as Plain Text file (xxxx.txt) VIBE: (x)x.txt (e.g. 12.txt) SIBE: 91xx.txt (e.g. 9101.txt) RIBE: 82xx.txt (e.g. 8201.txt) LIBE: 34xx.txt (e.g. 3401.txt) ◦ Save in Besmart/Research folder Check the four guidelines above if your CB Exercises don’t work.

Vertical Approach Type the given text using Microsoft Word Save it as a Plain Text file (e.g. 99.txt) Save it in the Besmart/Research folder Run ATM to try it out.

Vertical Approach Open the ATM_Maker_Exercises.xls file. Select a test format from the available sheets Copy the text Paste it in the Notepad Save it as a Plain Text file (e.g. 99.txt) Save it in the Besmart/Research folder Run ATM to try it out.

Horizontal Approach Open the CALL.doc file Select/copy one paragraph Paste it a new word document Break it down into sentences Open the Maker.xls file. Paste the sentences into the data sheet Type the expected answers and their clues Select a test format from the available sheets Copy the text(s) Paste it in the Notepad Save it as a Plain Text file (e.g. 99.txt) Save it in the Besmart/Research folder Run ATM to try it out.
