5 Use 1. Planes wood to even thickness. Stock must have a flat surface (face) before being planed. Stock must have a flat surface (face) before being planed.

6 Safety 1. Always check the lumber for defects. 2. All lumber must have a jointed face before being planed. 3. Always plane with the grain. 4. The minimum length of stock that can be planed is 12”. 5. The minimum thickness of stock that can be planed is 3/8”. 6. The maximum amount of stock that can be removed in a single pass through the planer is 1/16”. 7. Never look into the planer when it is running or coasting. 8. Never reach into the planer with your bare hands. 9. When planing short boards, use a piece of solid wood scrap, of equal thickness, to push the stock through. 10. When feeding stock into the machine, never let your fingers get between the board and the table.
