History TransAfrica Forum is the oldest and largest African American human rights and social justice advocacy organization. Created in 1977 One of the leading organizations in the anti apartheid movement in the United States of America.

Mission “We believe the success of Afro-Americans is bound up with the emancipation of all African peoples and also other dependent peoples and laboring classes everywhere.” Promoting diversity and equity in the foreign policy arena and justice for the African World.

Vision A world where Africans and people of African descent are self-reliant, socially and economically prosperous, and equal participants in a just international system structured to benefit their self-determined governments and peoples.

Other Activities at TransAfrica A talk by a Liberian Labor union. Discussions with fellow interns and staff. TransAfrica Alumnae barbeque.

Reflections Improved my research skills. Gained a better understanding of policies affecting Africa and the African Diaspora. Learnt about the importance of networking. Protesting is inspiring and uplifting.

Celebrating the work and achievement of the African world is very important in campaigning for change. Using films and books as other means of advocacy. It is important to understand the historical context of political issues.
