2 Guinea pigs Anatomy Guinea pigs have very interesting parts in their body’s. Did you know that Guinea pigs have 20 teeth and they never stop growing! Guinea pigs have 258 bones in their bodies and are similar to us in that they can break nearly every bone in their body. Guinea pigs don’t have tails. The female guinea pigs teat is at the bottom of their body so they can feed their pups.

3 Baby Guinea pigs Female Guinea pigs are pregnant for 59-72 days, (the average is 65 days). When handling a pregnant Guinea pig make sure she is healthy and is not about to have her pups. There can be to 1-4 Guinea pigs born each litter. A female Guinea pig is called a sow, a male Guinea pig is called a boar, and baby Guinea pigs are called pups. When a baby guinea pig is born it is between 8-10 cm long.

To keep a Guinea pig heathy, you have to make sure they have water, fresh greens, and seeds, make sure your guinea pig has a place to run around, and a warm place to hide and sleep. It is a good idea to put a bowl of milk for the pups if their mum refuses to feed them. Guinea pig sometimes eat their droppings for fibre, and if they get hungry when there are out of there cage.

5 Why don’t Guinea pigs like to run around? Guinea pigs are very interesting because they don’t like to run around like most animals. Guinea pigs are already entertained by other guinea pigs Guinea pigs are just lazy and like to eat and sleep Guinea pigs only like to run when they are in a big area. The main reason Guinea pig don’t like to run around is because they are scared of predators.
