Western Regions, the Hyderabad centre and Southern Region Systems Integration Business Unit were assessed at Level 5 of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) of the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. In 2001, Tata Sons Limited acquired 51% stake. In 2002, acquired ISO 9001:2000 certificate, for a period of three years In 2004, Government of India disinvested its remaining 26.5 per cent stake, took over by TCS.

4 Rural Information Management System 4 Overview of RIMS Rural Information Management System will be an Integrated IT Solution specifically designed to assist Rural Department and it’s offices to effectively plan, execute and monitor schemes. RIMS includes development of a Computerized Management Information System (CMIS) and Computerized Financial Management System (CFMS) for the on-going schemes of Computerized, along with a website, through which information will be disseminated to the citizens. Basic Features of RIMS –Provide a browser enabled interface to access the application from anywhere in the intranet –Capture of data once at source –Maintain a central repository of data –Provide effective monitoring –Disburse information on Schemes to public

6 Rural Information Management System 6 Overview of RIMS  Financial Management System (FMS)  The FMS will include the financial transactions and accounting needs at various levels (RD, DRDA, Taluka), supporting the various ongoing schemes. Funds received, expenditure made, funds released would be available in the system.  Management Information System (MIS)  The MIS would analyze the physical progress and implementation of the various schemes implemented by RD, through specific indicators, and will generate various reports, required for monitoring and decision making at all levels.  Website for RD  The Web Site for RD will contain details of the Rural Department schemes that are being implemented and their progress, latest news items, feedback facility, etc.  URL :- http://www.ruraldev.gujarat.gov.in

14 Rural Information Management System 14 Software process Model Waterfall Model(Iterative) The "waterfall model" implies that outputs from one phase (or level) become the inputs for next phase, and so on. This model segments the life cycle into a series of successive phases. Each phase has well defined inputs, uses well-defined processes and produces well ‑ defined deliverables. Once requirements are obtained they are not going to change during the development. So a linear flow of the system can be maintained. Once the system is analyzed and designed we can totally concentrate on the implementation of the system.
