6. 1. Marquis de Lafayette - Frenchman recruited by Franklin. Served in Continental Army under Washington. Washington and Lafayette at Valley Forge, PA

7. Lafayette served as Major General. Gave a great deal of his money and warships to the American cause.

8. 2. Baron Friedrich von Steuben - Prussian military officer who taught colonial army drill at Valley Forge, PA.

10. D. Ben Franklin persuaded French King to support American cause after victory at Saratoga.

11. 1. French invest heavily on Patriot side. They provide: supplies, money, soldiers, and navy. These would be key factors in British defeat.

14. 2. Bernardo de Galvez - governor of Spanish Louisiana. Leads an army from New Orleans east to Pensacola, FL to harass British forts.
