2  The narrator “holds the camera.”  The narrator tells the story.  A writer’s choice of narrator is called point of view.

3  First-person point of view  Third-person point of view

4  The narrator is a character in the story.  The narrator uses the pronouns “I” and “me.”  The narrator describes his/her thoughts and feelings.  The narrator does not know the thoughts and feelings of other characters.

5  The narrator is NOT a character in the story.  There are two types. ◦ Limited omniscient – the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of only ONE character. ◦ Omniscient – the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of ALL the characters.
