Osteoporosis is a condition in which there is a progressive loss of bone tissue. Through this, bones weaken and become brittle.

Can be hereditary- 80% Could also be lifestyle due to: ◦ Diet ◦ Physical activity ◦ Alcohol ◦ Cigarette smoking ◦ Hormones ◦ Medication

Asian women are at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis because 90% are lactose intolerant One out of every two women and one in four men over 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in his or her lifetime. More than 2 million American men suffer from osteoporosis, and millions more are at risk. Each year, 80,000 men have a hip fracture, and one third of these men die within a year.
