Reinforced EIB backing for key infrastructure Energy - almost EUR 700m for electricity networks extension - 45 000 new system users energy generation with reduced CO2 emissions improved sustainability and efficiency of Poland’s energy infrastructure Transport EUR 1.35bn for the construction and modernisation of more than 350 km of expressways in Poland EUR 360m for the upgrade of more than 300 km rail tracks

EIB fosters research, development and innovation Public research and development investment More than EUR 1bn support for research and development infrastructure and scientific equipment grants awarded by the National Science Centre and the National Centre for Research and Development Medical research carried out in public medical universities Innovative Polish industries EUR 134m loan to Grupa Azoty for expansion into new markets EUR 45m loan for Polpharma’s research into and development of biosimilar drugs – more affordable alternatives to current treatments EUR 190m for Orange’s 4G network rollout

EIB support for Polish cities and small businesses Modernising Polish cities EUR 577m for the upgrading of urban transport, education, health and social care and environmental infrastructure in Bydgoszcz, Wrocław, Kraków, Toruń, Łódź, Lublin, Rzeszów and other cities EUR 190m loan for the refurbishment and construction of rental social housing across Poland EUR 270m through JESSICA for revitalisation projects in municipalities Access to finance for SMEs and midcaps almost EUR 1bn of intermediated loans ongoing cooperation with 17 partner financing institutions development of the SME finance securitisation market in Poland with asset-backed securities (ABS) transactions EIF committed EUR 119m, aimed at raising almost EUR 655m. Within this 4 EFSI transactions benefitting 10,400 SMEs and start-ups

Outlook for EIB contribution in 2016 in Poland Particular focus on modernisation of Polish municipalities strategic infrastructure investments in the energy and renewable energy sectors assisting SMEs and midcaps in Poland increase support for local innovative enterprises with attractive financing cooperation with the BGK readiness for the financing within the plan for responsible development of Poland Possibilities of financing under the EFSI public infrastructure projects (transport sector, waste treatment, social housing) with direct or indirect private sector involvement finance for innovative companies and fast growing midcaps energy efficiency and renewable energy investments risk sharing structures with intermediary financial institutions venture capital and private equity funds.
