Reconciliation A sacrament through which Christ forgives the sins of those who seek His mercy. A sacrament through which Christ forgives the sins of those who seek His mercy. A Sacrament of Healing A Sacrament of Healing Frequency Frequency –Recommended that we receive Reconciliation regularly. Obligated to confess all sins Seal of Confession Seal of Confession –Priest is NEVER allowed to tell what he was told in confession.

Personal Sin Mortal Sin Mortal Sin –Serious offense against God Results in a total break in our friendship with Him –3 Factors Grave and serious matter Clear knowledge Full consent Venial Sin Venial Sin –Less serious offense against God Does not break our friendship with Him

Preparation a)Praise God for the forgiveness of sin through the death and Resurrection of Jesus. b)Thank God for His grace in your life. c)Examine where you have sinned in love of God/neighbor. 2. Celebration of Rite a) Celebration of confession and absolution - face to face exchange - kneeling at the confessional grill

Grace and Forgiveness Grace- God’s divine life in us. Grace- God’s divine life in us. –It is a special gift that God freely gives so that we may share in His happiness. –After we receive grace, we share in God’s life. Forgiveness- it begins with God’s mercy and love that comes to us in Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
